Off-camera question: “What inspires you creatively outside the office?”
What gets me into my creative brain faster than anything is digging through old things! There’s something magical about sifting through forgotten treasures in dusty shops.
Each item tells a story, sparking my creativity. Just last month, I shipped a jar of vintage buttons across multiple state lines. It cost $47 but for me creativity is about giving new life to the old. I was in Scotland last fall and I walked into a junk shop.
The shop owner there said, “what do you collect?” I impulsively started a copper collection. Why? Because I saw so many copper objects that needed to be rescued. It’s all about finding order in chaos, much like my work as a creative director.
The habit borders on hoarding sometimes, but I love it. It works for me.
