Scientific illustration and animation services
for biotech, tech + life sciences
Your science is the whole story. But a figure pulled from a paper or a diagram built in PowerPoint can make years of work look like an afterthought. We provide scientific illustration and animation services for biotech, medtech and life sciences teams. We turn mechanisms, pathways and platforms into figures, animated explainers and short videos that investors, partners and customers understand on the first look.
Type of illustrations
Every level of detail, from atom to idea
Not every figure needs the same precision. A crystal structure on a research slide and a hero animation on your homepage are doing different jobs. We work across the whole range, still or moving, and we help you pick the right level for each place your science shows up.
Level of abstraction
Structure-locked
Built from your actual data. We render molecules, proteins and binding sites, so every helix and pocket is where it should be. For the slide where a reviewer will zoom in, or the slow rotating render that lets them see all the way around.
- Rendered from structural data
- Accurate scale, geometry and binding sites
- Scientist-reviewed before final
Mechanistic
The biology is right, the forms are simplified. Receptors, ligands and pathways drawn as clean, consistent shapes that show what binds to what and in what order. This is most MoA figures, platform diagrams and pitch deck science slides. It’s also where most of our animation lives: the same MoA figure, played out as a 20 to 30 second sequence that shows the mechanism happening instead of asking the viewer to imagine it.
- Correct sequence and relationships
- Simplified forms, real labels
- Reusable across deck, web, print and video
Conceptual
When the audience needs the gist, not the structure. Cells, molecules and processes as recognizable but stylized visuals that explain the approach in seconds. Built for websites, one-pagers, short social videos and anyone reading on a phone.
- Explains the approach, not the chemistry
- Stylized, on-brand shapes
- Fast to read, easy to update
Abstract
Science as visual language. Patterns, textures and motion inspired by your platform, used across headers, backgrounds, social and swag. Most often this is a looping hero animation or a set of Lottie micro-animations that give your site a pulse. It never claims to be accurate. It makes your brand feel like your science.
Most projects use two or three of these together. The same molecule can be structure-locked on slide 12, animated in the website hero and abstract on the conference backdrop, and still read as one brand.
- Inspired by your data or modality
- Hero loops, backgrounds, Lottie motion
- Extends your identity system
Our illustrative work
Figures that make your science credible and clear
We design illustrations and produce animations and videos for every place your science shows up. From a Series A deck to a peer-reviewed paper to a 15 second loop on your homepage, we help your audience get it, fast. Check out our work below.
The Wizardly Way
What we illustrate and animate
If it happens in a lab, a workshop, a body or a bioreactor, we’ve probably drawn it, and there’s a good chance we’ve animated it too. A partial list of the subjects we illustrate for biotech, medtech and life sciences teams. Don’t see your subject here? Send it over. New science is the fun part.
Molecules + structures
Cells + tissues
Cell types and cell structures, cell membranes, organelles, T cells and CAR-T, stem cells, tumor microenvironments, tissue cross-sections, organoids.
Mechanisms + pathways
Platforms + processes
Devices + delivery
Motion + video
How we approach every scientific illustration
Good scientific illustration is a translation job. It has to be right for the scientist and readable for everyone else. Our process is built around accuracy checks, early feedback and reuse, so the figures we make hold up under peer review, still look great in a pitch, and are ready to move when you need a video.
We start with the science, not the style
We start with the science, not the style Before we open a design file, we read your papers, sit with your scientists and map the story the figure needs to tell. What happens first, what happens next, and what the viewer should understand by the end. Getting the sequence right is most of the work, and it’s the same sequence a storyboard follows if the figure becomes an animation.
Sketches before polish
We share rough sketches early, and for video, a storyboard and a rough animatic. This is where we catch a missing step, a mislabeled target or an arrow pointing the wrong way, while changes are cheap. You review the logic and the timing first. Then we build the finished artwork and the final render.
Your scientists sign off on accuracy
Every figure, and every frame that matters, goes back to your team for a technical review before it’s final. We build that step into the timeline, so it never feels like a surprise. If a detail changes in your data, we update the figure and re-render the animation to match.
One visual system, many uses
We design your illustrations as a set, with consistent color, line weight and labeling. That way the MoA figure on your website matches the one in your deck, the one on your poster and the one moving in your explainer video. Files come to you in editable formats so your team can adapt them as the science evolves.
Revisions are part of the process. Science changes, and figures should keep up. We expect revisions and plan for them, including a new cut of a video when your pipeline moves or a new candidate enters the clinic.
